Round 1 : OT - Aptitude test (for 100 mins) Students will be shortlisted based on Aptitude test for next round. Round 2 : OT - Technical test 1) for R&D profile (for 2hr) 2) for software profile (for 1.5 hrs) 3) for test and automation profile (for 1 hr) Round 3 : Technical Interview (2 levels) Round 4 : HR Interaction
Description of Online Test
Aptitude Test: Qualitative, Quantitative and Verbal reasoning and few Language questions Technical Test (I had appeared for 2): Candidates from all branches had the same test for particular profile R&D (40-45 Questions) and Test automation (questions similar to R&D) - All questions were of the format - a paragraph and a few questions based on it. The questions were based on application of basic physics and maths concepts (+2 level), Boost converter and a DSP question were the only advance topics I can remember About 14 candidates were shortlisted
Description of Technical interview
Level 1: My introduction Detailed discussion on my hardware project (focussed on its limitations and how it can/cannot be overcome) Questions based on a given speed-torque curve of a fan Divisibility test for 3 and its proof Discrete probability distribution plot and how to obtain random numbers satisfying the plot RC circuit questions Can the sum of two irrational numbers be rational? and other unconventional questions Level 2: Pseudocode for a system which transitions between fail safe and normal state depending on temperature sensor signals. (This was related to testing automation, which will involve working on NI-LabVIEW but knowing the software was not necessary) Question about infinite capacitor network Followed by discussion about profile 2 candidates were finally selected
Description of HR round
The HR person introduced herself. I was asked to introduce myself, and about my previous internship and my experience of working with people (working in a team). This was followed by discussion on relocation and compensation details. I also gave feedback on the recruitment process.
What should be the preparation strategy for an aspiring candidate?
In particular for SEDEMAC, the preparation requires brushing up very basic concepts of electrical, electronics and mechanical which we learn in 11th and 12th stds (like V=IR, P=VI, L-C-R, heat transfer, probability, functions, force displacement and other plots, etc.) The technical test was of fine quality and it assessed 'how well can one apply the basic concepts to a newer situation?' Working on projects has helped me to learn the skill of applying concepts to practical situations. This helped me in OT and interviews.
Resources for Preparation
Technical test and interview - No particular source Aptitude questions can be prepared from the popular websites. But the important skill in the aptitude test is to leave the questions which can take more time and attempt as much as you can.
Any additional information you want to provide from your side
I had described my projects in my resume and included them in my introduction during the interview, which was helpful according to me. I had also practiced introducing myself.
