Selection Procedure
Round 1 : OT Round 2 : Technical Interview Round 3 : HR Interview
Description of Online Test
Consisted of two sections, General Aptitude and Technical Technical section was mostly theoretical with a few problems
Description of Technical interview
Started with Introduction Then asked me to describe the projects that I have mentioned on the Resume, questions based on them, their real time applications and limitations of each one of them.(This took up most of the time during the interview) Later about my internship experience and what did I learn from it. Then they asked questions from Machines ( especially on Transformers and Induction Machines) and basics from Electronics (Analog and Power electronics)
Description of HR round
After the completion of Introduction, they asked me what I knew about the company and if I had any plans for higher education ( for which the answer was obvious and hence the follow up question of why not higher education).
Then few questions based on the Positions of Responsibility that I have mentioned in my resume, what encouraged me to take up that particular responsibility and the difficulties I faced and how did I try to overcome them.
Then they asked me few situational questions
For example - If you were the supervisor in the plant, monitoring a night shift, one employee refuses to work maybe because of sleep, tiredness and his work is mandatory in the manufacturing line as it can not be stopped. What would you do in that particular situation?
and a few follow up questions.
Then they asked me if I had any questions for them
General suggestion would be to ask them a few questions about the exact role and duty, training/probation period, about location etc. just to show your enthusiasm towards the company.
What should be the preparation strategy for an aspiring candidate?
For Core Electrical roles, it is very much essential to concentrate on Machines, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Control Systems, Circuit Theory and also the basics of Analog and Digital Electronics. Knowledge of software related to the field is always an advantage Previous papers of GATE are always helpful, solving problems from them helps you gain confidence.
Resources for Preparation
For aptitude refer to any renown websites like Faceprep, Indiabix, Hitbullseye. For Technical concepts refer to standard textbooks and also few GATE coaching Youtube channels like Kreatryx, Gate Academy. For visualization and better understanding there are a few youtube channels : Learn Engineering, The Engineering Mindset (both are just for basic level visualization)
Any additional information you want to provide from your side
- Have clean and proper resume. Make sure you have a strong knowledge of each and
everything on it ( Projects, interns, trainings, skills).
- Try to have few projects related to the field you are interested in
- Get to know the company and their recruitment process(from seniors or any source), this
always helps to be prepared and boost your confidence.
