Description of Technical interview
My Experience: Most of the Technical Questions are from core subjects like Electrical Machines and Power Systems although some questions are asked from Digital Electronics. Questions are mostly related to basic conceptual understanding of the subject. Some of the Questions are 1. How does a single Phase induction motor start? 2. Explain Hysteresis curve and how do you select a material for Machine Design? 3. Different methods for improving efficiency of Power Transmission? 4. Design a model for FSM? (A specific case is given) Some questions are asked to know about your projects or work experience with any team or extra-curricular activities (related to management)
Description of HR round
Questions include technical and Managerial some of them are: Technical: 1. Can we replace a npn transistor with a pnp transistor in a circuit? 2. Why is the npn transistor most widely used? 3. Question based on operation of transformers in parallel Other: 1. management related experience 2. Questions based on your project
What should be the preparation strategy for an aspiring candidate?
For Group Discussion: Understand the given description of the problem. It is not necessary to start first but make sure about two things 1. You should not repeat the same things others have already mentioned. 2. It will be better if you can add some different perspectives from your side. For Technical Questions: You must be good at the basics of core subjects like Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Analog and Digital Electronics. Prepare good notes for these subjects(easy to revise). Although there is no OT, it is good to practise numericals so that you can answer the questions with some quantitative approximations. For other questions: It will be better if you have any experience in working with a team or any extra-curricular activities or projects.
Resources for Preparation
Here I am listing what resources I found helpful. There might be many other sources which I don't know For Power Systems: Textbooks like: C.L.Wadhwa, William Stevenson Youtube Channel : Lectures of Electrical Engineering For Machines: Textbooks like: PS Bhimbra, Electrical Machinery Fundamentals by Chapman Youtube Channel : Lesics, Lectures of Electrical Engineering For Electronics: Youtube Channel: NESO Academy, All about Electronics
Any additional information you want to provide from your side
1. It is better to have good notes whenever you read anything new or else you may have to spend a lot of time during revision.
2. Refer to multiple sources of information if you are stuck because not everyone's explanation is same, you might find some other interesting resources and authors.
