Preparation Strategy:

It is important to start the preparation well in advance, ideally during the summer before 3rd Year starts, as this will allow one not only to prepare for placements, but will also assist you during internship drives.

The preparation strategy can be as follows:-
1)Resume Preparation:-This should be the very first step in Placement preparation. It's a good practice to start this process as early as possible, by keeping track of all your achievements, projects and internships in a single word doc, before preparing your final resume.Search online for resume samples or ask a friend or a senior's resume for reference. It is important to understand that NO RESUME is perfect, and thus you should be open to taking suggestions from your peers and seniors regarding your resume and make necessary changes.Try to tailor your resume specifically to every company that you apply and make sure to check for the facts mentioned in the resume and grammatical errors(if-any), before submitting your resume.

2)Online Test Preparation:- Practice, Practice and Practice. The trick of cracking OTs is to not only be accurate, but also be efficient. For the aptitude section, some of the important topics are pipes and indices, Profit and loss, Time, SI & CI in Quantitative aptitude and Syllogism, Direction test and series in Logical Reasoning to name a few. For technical sections, subjects such as Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery, Strength of Material are important (This is not an Exhaustive list - Have good knowledge of all core subjects taught from 2-1 to 3-2). For the technical section-Previous year GATE questions are commonly asked.

3)Group Discussion (GD) preparation:- This step isn't necessary for all companies, as only few companies have a GD round, but one should remain prepared. Stay up to date with the latest news, by making it a Practice to read the newspaper everyday (if possible). Furthermore, have mock Group Discussions among your friends, in order to further strengthen yourself.

4)Interview Preparation:- Before going for any interview - Firstly, ensure that you prepare at least 2 favorite subjects of your choice, such that you can answer any questions posed on the said subjects. Secondly, Know each and every point on your resume and be ready to explain each point in detail.Thirdly, Prepare an answer to the "Tell me about yourself" question. Furthermore, prepare answers to some basic HR questions such as your career goals, strengths and weaknesses to name a few. Make sure to guide the interview towards your strengths, such as projects/Internships.
